Improve labour and Union relations

TIME STUDY TO RESOLVE LABOUR DISPUTE AND ACTION

The strength of unions in South Africa is ever-increasing, as a politically attentive nation the probability of this abating is limited and unlikely.

Our industrial engineers were contracted to assist an organisation in the manufacturing sector to give an external opinion on the validity of performance standards within the organisation that had been in place for in excess of twenty years.

During a short study in 2019, we identified 2500 data points for 66 process steps that were analysed and developed into theoretical performance standards based on the current operating conditions at the facility.

It was found that on average an additional 29.9% output was possible: 17.4% through improved time and attendance management and 12.5% through more closely managed production targets.

The conclution was that the existing performance standards were deemed acceptable.
